Associate General Counsel
Duties: Provide legal counsel and support in a broad range of areas, including digital health, research innovation, and health care corporate and regulatory matters. Represent the Hospital in administrative proceedings if needed; manage and oversee outside counsel. Support transactional and innovation work of the firm enterprise including affiliations and licensing opportunities and advise on industry collaborations. Draft and negotiate contracts on behalf of the enterprise. Draft and review policies and guidelines. Provide advice related to laws and regulations that impact hospital operations and professional standards. Represent Office of General Counsel on various committees, as requested. Participate in one or more Service Line/Affinity groups. Work as a member of a cross-functional legal office and support work in other areas, as may be requested by the General Counsel, including a minimum of twice a year participation in the Office of General Counsel team coverage of off-hour emergency matters. Develop and conduct training and education programs for administrative and physician leadership.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Law degree and 7+ years of related interdisciplinary experience, including Academic Medical Center and general health care experience; knowledge of corporate and non-profit law; and knowledge of health care regulatory framework; experience within non-profit/for-profit collaborations is desired. Analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of scientific or technical principles, theories, and concepts and in-depth, experienced-based cross-functional knowledge. Excellent interpersonal/communication skills required to represent the Hospital in legal proceedings, negotiate important and sensitive matters, present to members of the Executive Management Group on issues and programs that impact assigned department, represent the Hospital with external parties, and perform other duties requiring a comparable level of communication skills. Current licensure by the applicable board of Bar Overseers is required. If not currently licensed in Massachusetts, the expectation is that licensure would be obtained if hired.
