Summer Internship Position 2018 Intern work with unaccompanied immigrant children held in shelters, group homes, or long term foster care. Will work directly with detained adults or unaccompanied minors in immigration proceedings. Will work directly with clients, conduct intake interviews, assist with applications for relief, and draft legal filings for use in Immigration Court and at the Board of Immigration Appeals. Depending on court timing, law student interns may also have the opportunity to represent individuals in hearings before an Immigration Judge under the supervision of an attorney. Should have a demonstrated commitment to immigration issues and public interest law and working in a collaborative, high volume work environment. Fluency or advanced proficiency in Spanish is required. Prior advocacy or academic experience in immigration law, excellent writing and interpersonal skills, and experience working with people from different cultures are strongly valued. First year students are welcome to apply.
