Intake Paralegal
Candidate will assist tenants at risk of eviction and homelessness due to the impact of COVID-19. Under the direction of attorneys, will interview prospective clients; assess client eligibility; gather client documents; record client information using computerized record-keeping system; attend and participate in scheduled unit meetings; and, when appropriate, provide advice or make referrals to other resources. Will participate in and help coordinate Housing Court Lawyer-for-the-Day program, which may be virtual or in-person.

Qualification and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited high school or its equivalent required. Paralegal studies/Certificate or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Must be fluent in English and Spanish. Capacity to identify and analyze legal and other problems. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to be part of an interactive, supportive team with high expectations. A demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse backgrounds, and commitment to working with low-income communities.
Term: Funded through December 31, 2021.
