Claims Processor / Paralegal Responsibilities: In personal injury law firm: Organize settlements; maintain Excel spreadsheet using template. Resolve deficiencies (provide further medical documentation or work history/exposure documentation/affidavits). Review medical and employment records for submission to trust. Submit releases to trusts or defendants. Contact with clients in a professional and helpful manner. Contact defendants regarding approval of claims and verify payment schedule. Provide Manager with updates on overall settlement status (i.e. total value of settlement, expected income, disease level breakdown, # of paid claims, # of deficiencies, etc.). Process funds received; advise Accounting Manager when to disburse funds. Update claims when new probate appointments are received or if progression of disease. Work with Settlement Manager/IT department to create master lists of clients eligible for settlement, bulk uploads to defendants and various product identification mailings.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: BA/BS Degree preferred. 5+ years’ work experience, preferably with claims and/or in a law firm. Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational & follow up skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Flexibility to respond to changing priorities. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong initiative; Desire to build on initial training and skills. Professional demeanor. Ability and eagerness to manage projects.
