Senior Counsel - Global Litigation & Investigations
Duties: Manage and conduct global privileged investigations, including interviews, review and analysis of documents and data, presentation preparation, and reporting to various stakeholders including senior leadership Coordinate investigation resources and support with international colleagues in the GEHC Global Law & Policy Team Provide cross-functional support to the Compliance function to (1) identify emerging issues and trends; (2) assess risk; (3) define policy and process improvements; and (4) support training initiatives Brief and develop investigative plans and strategy with Global Chief Litigation and Investigations Counsel and other team members Support and manage related litigation matters Drive efficiencies and cost reduction in investigative matter management, including budgeting for external counsel and forensic/discovery-related needs Leads others to find creative solutions to address complex problems that may impact the organization. Has the ability to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: JD Degree, with 5-7 years of practice. Substantial experience with government investigations, including investigations conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, and/or foreign equivalents. Investigations experience in one or more of the following areas: Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA)/other anti-corruption law; health care fraud and abuse, including the U.S. Anti-Kickback statute (AKS), False Claims Act (FCA), and/or Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA); export control, intellectual property theft/economic espionage; financial frauds; public procurement law; and/or antitrust. Accepting and adhering to high ethical, moral, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others. Excellent oral and written communication skills (a writing sample may be requested). Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively at all levels of the organization. Ability to work well independently and in a team setting. Ability to direct and manage relationships and budgets with outside counsel. Prioritization skills and ability to drive projects to conclusion. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a global environment, including participating in (often international) calls outside normal business hours. Ability to work in office environment at headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. Ability and willingness to travel domestically and globally.
Desired Skills: Prior prosecutorial or enforcement agency litigation experience. Prior experience in conducting and managing highly sensitive internal corporate investigations. Prior experience in conducting, management, and/or coordination of litigation and dispute resolution. Prior experience prioritizing conflicting demands from multiple business clients in an extremely fast-paced environment. High level of cultural sensitivity, flexibility, and emotional intelligence in order to work effectively in a multicultural environment. Prior experience with Power Point and Microsoft Office applications. Fluency in additional language(s).
