Legal Assistant / Paralegal - Capital Habeas Unit The candidate will provide litigation support on complex cases. Will gather, organize and analyze records relating to the offense and the client's life history. Synthesize information about each case and develop research. Maintain electronic discovery. Administer and produce reports. Assist attorneys in all aspects of casepreparation. Maintain software platforms in various programs. Notarize documents. Submit document requests to varied agencies and preparing appellate briefs to the appropriate courts.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should preferably have prior capital and/or federal habeas experience or paralegal experience in complex areas of the law. Education above the high school level from an accredited institution may be substituted for a portion of the general or specialized experience. Should have strong analytical abilities and solid oral and written communication skills and be comfortable talking directly with clients over the phone. Must be proficient in litigation support and case management software, such as CaseMap, and who possess a high degree of computer literacy in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and experience with computer-assisted research is a plus. Should have the ability to work week-ends and holidays as needed.
