Election Protection Visiting Litigation Fellow (Temporary/Remote) The candidate will effectively lead voting-related litigation and legal advocacy work, including on an emergency or expedited basis in state and federal court. As the owner of litigation and/or legal advocacy efforts, the Litigation Fellow may be responsible for overseeing the work of more junior TCRP attorneys. Support the work of Voting Rights attorneys by conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, briefs, and other legal advocacy materials, and collaborating on strategy and tactics. Partner and possibly manage relationships with pro bono attorneys and co-counsel. Act as an informal coach to support and mentor junior attorneys and law clerks, as well as other interns or volunteers, as needed. Support the Election Protection legal team by monitoring and responding to election administration issues, as needed. Work collaboratively with the full TCRP Voting Rights team, the TCRP Community Engagement Department, and partner organizations. A JD, and at least 5 years of post-graduation litigation experience, preferably in federal. Candidate should be licensed to practice law in any U.S. state required. Experience with civil rights litigation, preferred. Sharp legal writing, research, oral advocacy, client counseling and negotiations skills required. Demonstrated success managing colleagues, especially in litigation required. Excellent and consistent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal skills, including maturity, keen judgment, the ability to facilitate challenging conversations and to work collaboratively with people from a wide array of backgrounds and perspectives and across projects required.
