Bankruptcy Specialist The candidate will review bankruptcy filings, verifications and/or documents (such as bankruptcy plans, attorney referrals, docket reports, and etc.) and make decisions regarding necessary and appropriate course of action within Bankruptcy workstation. Monitor status of all bankruptcy cases assigned and evaluate for further legal action. Ensure the timely filing of reaffirmations, proofs of Claim, objections and requesting of motions for relief by attorney. Monitor payments (pre-petition and post-petition) received during bankruptcy case and make decisions regarding actions to be taken. Communicate with bankruptcy clerk and trustees to determine status of bankruptcy case and compliance with Bankruptcy Code and Rules and coordinate all mailing and contact information on the mortgage for notices. Review, prepare documents for execution including but not limited to: proof of claims, reaffirmation/stipulation agreements, and affidavits. Answer incoming/outbound calls from attorneys, trustees, debtors and debtor’s attorneys as received. Conduct searches of current or previous bankruptcy cases using the designated approved system (PACER, Aacer OR LEXIS/NEXIS or CM/ECF). Provide immediate notification to investors, FNMA, FHA, VA, or mortgage insurance company of bankruptcy filing. Escalate to management any file where mortgagor intends to substantially reduce our debt or claim (Cramdown). Escalate all mortgagor disputes and provide sufficient account history to Foreclosure/Bankruptcy Manager. Develop and maintain relationships with bankruptcy attorneys, trustees, debtor’s attorneys and investors. Respond to inquiries from Audit, Compliance, Investors, Insurers and QA by timeframe provided by requestor. Review each file monthly. Maintain 100% with Investor and Insurer timelines. Manually open Bank exceptions within 24 hours of receipt. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or finance or equivalent work experience is essential. 3+ years of bankruptcy paralegal or bankruptcy servicing experience required. Prior Fannie Mae, VA, FHA and GNMA experience required. Basic familiarity with the Federal Bankruptcy Code and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Preferred Mortgage Banking experience.
