Court Collections Clerk The candidate informs and explains the different plea options to the defendants. Prepares supporting documentation (plea forms judgments, Driving Safety Course (DSC) and deferral orders) for the defendant’s and Judge’s signature. Accepts and receives new case files and receives funds from defendants entering pleas which require payments to be made. Ensure cases are properly assembled. Accept and post payments to the proper accounts. Prepare and explain payment plans. Audit cases events for quality control. Post cash bonds and prepares all supporting documentations. Set Court dates (Trials bench/jury, pre-trials, arraignments, teen court) and process defendants for community service. Processes and explains sanctions imposed on deferrals. Process cases from Trials, Pre trials and Arraignments. Recall warrants and process case for payments, time payments or trials. Verify proof of liability insurance, motor vehicle registration and inspection sticker. Process payments made by mail, internet and phone. Receipts, deposits and accounts for monies for fines, forfeitures and other Court receipts by automated means. Receives logs and indexes incoming filings, citations and complaints. Responds to and processes deferrals, jail sentences, probation’s, pre-sentence matters, and failures to appear. Responds to counter, telephone and written inquiries. Receipts bails, fines and penalties. Initiates related paperwork as needed by defendants to facilitate their response to a citation or complaint. Constructs new case files, filing and retrieving documents as necessary. Responds to requests from Municipal Judge, City Prosecutor, Police Department, Clerk of the Court and others for assistance and information; processes discovery activity required from the office. Should have Graduation from high school or equivalent; and 2 years prior work experience in clerical, secretarial, paralegal or administrative work; or Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
