Litigation Paralegal, Legal
Duties: Assist Legal Department with a wide variety of additional legal matters including: General matters/requests received from other departments and supported offices; Contract Management; Litigation management on employment, class action, breach of contract matters and other litigation. Active utilizer of matter management and contract management software, including some administrative functions such as scanning, field population, data monitoring, report construction/generation, etc. Perform basic legal research. Special projects for the Legal Team, such as: PowerPoint presentations, Legal Department reports, and other such projects to support the work of the Legal Department. Provide support to the Legal Team as needed with Malpractice & Dental Board related matters including: Submitting claims on behalf of supported doctors to their malpractice insurance; Monitoring claims once they have been submitted to the malpractice insurance carrier; Supporting with assignment of outside counsel through malpractice insurance for lawsuits and Board complaints; Organize and track documents for Board complaints, Malpractice Lawsuits, Attorney General Complaints, Subpoena Requests, etc. and maintaining a matter management database. Support with obtaining necessary documents for submission of claims on malpractice, Board matters and other legal disputes Assist with managing contracts by overseeing the Contract Management inbox and uploading executed contracts. Assist Operations, supported Doctors and teams with day-to-day legal Inquiries, including inquires to paralegal inbox Support with research on Pre-litigation matters and risk management Report construction and generation with data that is gathered to provide support with bi-weekly, monthly and other reporting to the field and internal customers. Support with data coordination for the Legal Team by collecting and managing data from CSC. Organize data in a way to be used to analyze business functions, productivity, and redundancies. Assist with creation of PowerPoint presentations, Legal Department reports, and other such special projects to support with the workflow of the Legal Department. Additional projects as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Associate degree or 3 years’ experience either at a law firm or in-house; Practical knowledge of legal concepts and database or reporting experience; Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook Excel and PowerPoint; Strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail; Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to answer telephone calls and communicate information to callers; Ability to interact with co-workers in a collegial manner to accomplish common tasks; High level of maturity, personal initiative, and sound judgment; and Ability and willingness to learn new software.
Desirable Qualifications: Law firm experience. Experience working with contract management, malpractice or employment litigation management. Experience in Ops Services or PSR at Heartland Dental.
