Legal Assistant/Office Manager
Duties: Handle a very broad range of administrative and substantive responsibilities for law firm specializing in high-profile Supreme Court, appellate, and constitutional litigation covering a very broad range of issues, including the First Amendment, consumers’ and workers’ rights, class actions, gun control, and public health. First point of contact for new clients and cases. Will handle a broad range of administrative and substantive responsibilities for a small but busy law office. Will be drafting, editing, printing, formatting, and filing legal documents; scheduling and arranging meetings, speaking appearances, and travel; general administrative tasks, including keeping on top of telephone calls and emails for the firm’s lawyers; research relating to cases; developing newsletters and other mailings; and other tasks as assigned.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: College graduate with an interest in the work and strong organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills. Should be detail oriented and able to prioritize multiple projects and effectively solve problems while remaining calm in deadline-driven situations. Should care about good writing and editing and be interested in continually improving own skills as a writer. May be ideal for college graduates who are contemplating law school or graduate school. Must be a talented college graduate interested in public interest law to become an integral part of a busy practice focused on appeals and constitutional cases. Relevant work experience, particularly in a law-office, advocacy-group, or journalism setting, is preferred.
Ideal start date in mid-May 2019
