Director of Government Affairs Responsibilities: Represent Great Western before governmental agencies in Colorado; Develop relationships in the Colorado State Legislature, with local officials, and government agency personnel; Maintain a broad understanding of Great Westernâ€™s assets and operations to advocate for tax, regulatory, and other business issues; Manager and coordinate with lobbyists or consultants as necessary; Maintain all state and local political contributions to assure effectiveness and compliance with all state and internal rules and policies; Participate and represent the company with trade association business and decisions; Remain active in political and trade associations; Advise executives and other staff of upcoming legislation and other governmental rule-making; Participates in community meetings.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelorâ€™s degree in engineering, political science, business, or a related field required. Advanced degree in law, public administration, business or related field preferred. Should have 8+ yearsâ€™ experience working in or with legislative bodies, state, and local government required. Thorough understanding of Colorado laws. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; with an ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the organization. Good organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision. Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
