Job Overview:
A national law firm is seeking a highly skilled Mid-Level Associate to join its Employee Benefits practice group. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with experience in employee benefits law to work with a diverse range of clients, providing high-level legal counsel in areas such as qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, fringe benefits, and more. The firm offers flexibility in location, with candidates able to be affiliated with offices across multiple states.

Location:

  • Washington, DC

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on employee benefits matters, including ERISA and related issues
  • Advise on qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, and fringe benefits
  • Counsel clients on legal aspects of mergers and acquisitions, downsizing, and other workforce management issues
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to distill complex issues into clear, actionable advice
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and clients to solve complex employee benefits-related matters
  • Prepare written materials, including memos, reports, and client communications
  • Support senior attorneys and partners in case preparation and strategy

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in employee benefits law, including knowledge of ERISA
  • Familiarity with qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, fringe benefits, and/or mergers and acquisitions
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to distill complex legal matters into clear, actionable advice
  • Experience with substantial legal research
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and team-oriented environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in one of the specified jurisdictions is mandatory

  • In-depth understanding of employee benefits law, including ERISA
