Legal Assistant Responsibilities: Will provide administrative support including drafting and revising letters and documents, preparing PowerPoint presentations, making travel arrangements and preparing expense reports. Prepare and maintain electronic and hard files, reports, logs and databases of relevant information. Provide legal expense support including adding new matters to the electronic billing system, setting up new vendors in the system, ensuring proper posting of invoices by outside counsel, closing matters and appropriately resolving issues. Assist with the budget process for outside counsel fees, including the preparation of quarterly fee estimate and probable loss reports and other reports regarding legal expenses. Prepare check and wire requests and obtain appropriate approvals. Prepare document preservation notices for new litigation and release for concluded matters. Provide assistance and support on varied matters as needed.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements : Must have an Associateâ€™s degree. Minimum 3 years of legal administrative assistance experience. Bachelorâ€™s degree with strong academic credentials preferred. 10+ years of legal assistant experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as be able to handle and effectively prioritize a diverse workload and a variety of matters in a fast- paced, rapidly changing environment. Detail oriented with the ability to consistently produce accurate work, and improve and streamline processes, as applicable. Able to effectively handle multiple and varied tasks simultaneously in a high quality manner and meet deadlines, while managing multiple, competing and shifting priorities. Able to collect, organize, evaluate and synthesize information from various sources and apply critical thinking in order to identify the relevant points. Possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Possess a high level of discretion, professionalism, maturity and ethical integrity, including the ability to interact with legal and business colleagues and outside parties in a positive and professional manner under pressure.
