Legal Assistant II-III The candidate organizes, indexes, and files legal and administrative documents. Answers the phone, providing general information or routing calls as appropriate Coordinates travel arrangements for legal staff and prepares or processes related paperwork and files. Assists in preparing, proofreading, and editing legal and administrative documents. Assists in organizing trial and hearing materials. Develops, coordinates and successfully maintains record keeping and filing systems for attorneys’ cases. Obtains and follows requirements for proper filing and delivery of documents in state, federal and appellate courts. Performs general secretarial, administrative and clerical duties. Performs related work as assigned. Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions. Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule. Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information. Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: The candidate must have Graduation from high school or equivalent. Should have 1+ year of experience in administrative support or legal secretarial work; may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Must have knowledge of legal practices and terminology, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and grammar. Should have skill in the use of computer and office equipment and reference materials. Should have 2+ years of experience in administrative support or legal secretarial work; may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university preferred. Must have graduation from an accredited two-year community college. Formal legal training (i.e. advanced technical certificate) required. Should have Legal secretarial experience in a civil litigation environment.
