Litigation Paralegal Candidate must have: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work Paralegal certificate preferred. 5+ years' litigation paralegal experience. 5+ years’ heavy litigation experience required. Trial experience is a must. Extensive experience with document management systems and thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office systems is required. An experienced, organized, detail- and deadline-oriented paralegal with strong communication skills to join our Portland office litigation team. Will be a critical thinker with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. We are looking for someone who pitches in to help when and where needed and provides top-notch customer service, both internally and externally. Knowledge of and the ability to research and interpret legal and technical procedures, statutes, and regulations applicable to area of practice; the ability to draft documents (e.g. subpoenas, discovery requests and responses, transmittal letters); and the ability to organize large volumes of diverse materials (e.g. electronic and physical documents obtained through discovery); extensive experience with document management systems; and thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Sytstems. Ability to analyze files and matters, identify required additional information, and take action to obtain needed information. Ability to recognize legal and technical issues and effectively recommend course of action to comply with regulations and/or resolve The individual also has the ability to recognize other problems and abnormalities that may arise and can exercise judgment to resolve them. Articulate communicator; ability to write in a clear, concise, and precise manner; follows directions, but understands goals sufficiently to ask appropriate questions or for further instructions. Ability to remain calm, focused, and professional and work well with the diverse personalities of lawyers, clients, and co-workers internally and externally in a deadline-driven, high-expectation environment where pitching in to help internal and external clients is the norm. Ability to determine the most effective use of resources; has the ability to handle pressure, work long hours as needed, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects with changing priorities; and is a self-starter. Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well. Devoted to a task or purpose with loyalty or integrity. Works well as a member of a group. Ability to Make an Impact: Inspired to perform well by the ability to contribute to the success of a project or the organization. Inspired to perform without outside help.

Create a culture where partners encourage associates in order to improve retention and close the gap between partners and associates.

Pros : Associates at the firm are very supportive of each other. Collaboration and compromise are frequent and welcome.
Cons : Partners at the firm can be very pushy and demanding. Some associates work in fear and dread of those higher up in the firm that themselves. Hours and work for associates can be daunting and not great for work-life balance.
