Assistant General Counsel Candidate will support other senior lawyers in the legal department and will work directly with the member organizations within the HealthCare system on matters concerning Connecticut Certificate of Need, litigation matters including pre-litigation support, administrative proceedings, and probate hearings, responding to governmental and patient inquiries, and other matters required by the legal department.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Active membership in the Connecticut Bar (or either the ability to become an active member, or obtain the Connecticut Authorized House Counsel designation, within one year), and excellent academic credentials. 4+ years legal experience in the health care field required. Previous relevant experience either in-house or at a law firm preferred. Prior health care law experience required. Demonstrated effective oral and written advocacy skills and negotiation strategies. Ability to apply analytical skills in addressing complex legal issues. Ability and willingness to proactively communicate with clients, stakeholders and other members of the in-house counsel department. Desired traits for a candidate include critical thinking skills. Maintaining a positive attitude at all times. Working progressively with many individuals on a project. Excellent problem solving skills; and proficiency in legal research, including Lexis, Westlaw & other research tools, as well as technology used in operations. Capable of working with minimal supervision, working well in a team environment, and exercising good judgment, client counseling and decision-making skills.
