Underwriting Counsel
The candidate will provide answers and guidance to customers and company agents on real estate closings and title insurance matters and determining company's willingness and ability to insure with those questions and situations. This position is also required to provide educational and current industry related information to the company's agents through memos and quarterly Company newsletter on topics assigned by General Counsel.

Qualification and Experience

A Juris Doctorate is required. 5-10 Years experience in Real Estate/Settlement Industry. Must have thorough knowledge of title insurance rates and rules for all states licensed and be abreast of all current developments in rules in the licensed states. Must have knowledge of title insurance underwriting standards for each state assigned. Must have the ability to discuss and review proposed requests for coverage to determine potential risks; to suggest and provide adequate language in title commitments policies and endorsements which will protect the company's interest while assisting the agents. Must be able to issue underwriting guidelines in keeping with risk decisions of management and keep management aware of risks undertaken and possible consequences. Microsoft Office proficient.
