Assistant City Attorney I or II The candidate will be responsible for advising and representing the Department of Social Services in legal matters relating to abused, neglected and at-risk children, primarily but not exclusively in courts not of record. Experience in family, juvenile or social services law is preferred. This position may also involve providing advice and representation to other City agencies and other assignments as needed. Must be a member of the Virginia State Bar in good standing. Requires a JD degree and satisfaction of continuing legal education requirements of the Virginia State Bar. Requires a license to practice law from the Virginia Board of Bar Examiners, independent admission to the bars of individual courts as necessary (e.g., United States District Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, etc.) and annual certification of satisfaction of continuing legal education requirements of the Virginia State Bar. 0-4 years of legal and supervisory experience is desired.
