At Freed Marcroft, we built our divorce and family law firm around helping people move forward to where they want to be. We help find the opportunities that are all wrapped up in what looks like a problem. We want to get where you want to be. We are looking for a senior-level attorney who has a passion for the law and for helping people. Let us handle the marketing and sales, the client development, the billing and collections, the facilities, technology and staffing issues. We have a team in place to make sure you are not alone, and you are not bound by admin work. When you bring in clients, you’ll be compensated for your efforts. But you’ll get back the time and attention to focus on providing outstanding client service and legal brilliance. We are looking to help the right attorney reclaim a work/life balance. We want to help you fall back in love with the law and with helping people find a better life. We want to help you get back to your top-notch lawyer roots. We are actively recruiting for a senior attorney who is highly skilled and experienced in matrimonial law. Demonstrate experience in taking ownership of a client's case – discovery, pleadings, and motions; negotiation, collaboration, and mediation; pretrial hearings, motion hearings, and trials. Conduct client meetings and develop, recommend, and execute strategies. Delegate work to paralegals and legal assistants and monitor their work. The Essentials You’re an attorney who can develop the strategy of a case and has the knowledge of the rules of procedure and negotiation techniques that effectuate that strategy. You’re an attorney who knows your way around the courtroom and how to project confidence and competence on behalf of our clients. You’re an adept negotiator who doesn’t fan the flames or take the bait. You believe that divorce and family law matters are not “one size fits all,” and you find the right divorce modality for each individual client’s situation and goals. You thrive on complicated facts and complex legal, jurisdictional, and financial issues. You help clients understand whether they really want to spend $500 to fight over a $50 lamp. If you see a case file as an opportunity to help someone build a new life, you’ll like the way we think. Your skills and experience are important and valued, but your personality, character, intelligence, and integrity are also extremely important. We share truths – with each other and with our clients – even when they are uncomfortable, because we understand that is the only way to help a person grow. We own our mistakes and failings, without shame, recognizing we are all human. We embrace that we are responsible to our clients, not for our clients. We provide the best guidance, support, and resources at our disposal while challenging clients to achieve their goals while not buying their victim-mindset. We value each team member as equally important to both our and our clients’ success, and self-important lawyers will not succeed in our firm. We are growing and are always seeking a better way to help our clients. We are fun, funny, and we like each other. Salary Salary is commensurate with skill and experience and is negotiable. The compensation package includes base salary plus bonus compensation for production, performance, and client referrals. We offer a generous benefits package including a SIMPLE retirement plan with an employer contribution, health insurance, paid time off, and short and long term disability. We also pay for continuing legal education, bar dues, Attorney Occupational Tax, and some approved voluntary bar memberships. We are open to discussing compensation for your existing book of business. How to Apply If this exciting opportunity appeals to you, we look forward to reviewing your resume. Please follow these instructions. Email us your cover letter and resume to info@freedmarcroft.com. The subject line of the email should your last name, followed by a hyphen and the word “attorney,” followed by one word that you would use to describe yourself (lower case).

Freed Marcroft's team of attorneys and professional legal staff devote their practice entirely to divorce and family law. We are headquartered in Hartford, Connecticut, but serve clients throughout the state of Connecticut. Our attorneys’ singular focus, without distractions, allows us to go “a mile deep” on all the highly evolving aspects of family law. Our lawyers have the qualities clients expect from powerful litigators, including a deep bench, legal knowledge, and an aggressive approach. However, our legal team also has the compassion and conflict resolution skills necessary to provide non-adversarial resolutions for clients. We have extensive experience in all three family law options – litigation, mediation, and collaborative divorce – because what is most important to us is designing a divorce individualized to our clients, their goals, and their families. Our ability to help clients the way they deserve to be helped depends on our team. We hire the best and value them like they deserve to be valued.
