Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent secured and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court restructuring.
  • Provide legal advice on complex financial and insolvency matters.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including bankruptcy petitions, restructuring plans, and creditor agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on relevant issues.
  • Assist in negotiations with stakeholders, including financial institutions and franchisors.
  • Manage case files and maintain accurate and comprehensive records.
  • Participate in court hearings and trials as required.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and implement effective legal strategies.
  • Mentor junior associates and support their professional development.
  • Contribute to business development efforts and maintain client relationships.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in finance and bankruptcy law.
  • Proven experience representing secured and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court restructuring.
  • Specific experience with franchisors and financial institutions is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong academic credentials and a commitment to providing high-quality client service.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar in North Carolina or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively.
