Legal Student Assistant The candidate will assist with depositions, such as setting calendars, reviewing evidence, summarizing medical records, and summarizing deposition transcripts. Conduct research related to liens, research electronic claims files for documents related to Medical Provider Network compliance, Utilization Review denials, and pre-lien conferences. Prepare the Pre-Trial Conference Statement (lien). Assist with mandatory settlement conference preparation by drafting pre-trial conference statements and exhibit lists, prepare objections per attorney instructions, and prepare summaries of evidence. Prepare trial exhibits, contact and interview witnesses, assist attorneys with meetings and trial preparation. Review and identify Utilization Review denials, requests for authorization from providers, correspondences, and medical records to determine compliance with statutory regulations related to expedited hearing preparation. Must be at least a second year student currently enrolled in at least 4 semester or 6 quarter units at an ABA or CBA accredited law school. Graduate students must be enrolled at a minimum in four semester units or six quarter units. Students declared major must match the major(s) listed in the job posting. Conduct legal research. Create legal documents such as trial brief support and position statements. Assist with subpoena processing. Assist with legal project work such as gathering data and compiling research. Job shadowing attorneys to observe chamber discussions and open-court proceedings. This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position.
