Staff/Sr. Staff Attorney-Insurance Defense
Duties: The candidate will analyze intricate substantive and procedural legal and factual issues, conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients. Prepare pleadings, written discovery, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies with limited supervision due to the expected level of experience and expertise. Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice, and other services to clients and claim customers in a technology-driven environment. Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel in a manner consistent with established office procedures. Effectuate the prompt, efficient, and effective disposition of assigned cases. Independently conduct all aspects of litigation including trials, depositions, arbitration, and meditations.
Qualification and ExperienceQualifications: The candidate should have 7+ years of legal practice experience handling tort defense cases. First chair jury trial expertise is highly-preferred. Should have strong legal research and writing skills; excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize duties and time are a must; strong communication, computer and technological skills (proficiency in MS Office, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook; and Lexis Nexis) and the ability to quickly leverage new software as required. Should be a member in good standing of California State Bar; JD from accredited law school and license to practice in the State of California. Should have 3+ years of legal practice experience handling tort defense cases. Some trial experience is preferred. Should have strong legal research and writing skills. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize duties and time are a must.
