Director and Counsel The candidate will advise firm's Real Estate investment professionals with respect to these managed accounts and investment funds, as well as the underlying real estate assets. Will serve as a liaison with other business units and lawyers supporting firm's Real Estate, firm's LLC, and their affiliates around the world. Previous work with real estate investment funds, as well as exposure to specialized real estate types, transaction structures, and investment adviser legal issues, would be highly desirable. (E.g., CMBS and GSE lending; equity joint ventures; public and private REITs; hospitality; senior housing; mezzanine debt and preferred equity; interest-rate and currency derivatives; Investment Advisers Act of 1940; etc.). Must be real estate lawyer with experience representing both owners and lenders on commercial real estate transactions. Must be Attorney with 6-10 years practicing real estate law at a leading law firm or in-house at a real estate asset management firm or other financial institution. Must have experience in negotiating and closing complex commercial real estate transactions of various types, including acquisitions and dispositions; financings (on behalf of borrowers and lenders); leasing; and development. Experience with limited partnership structures, particularly in the context of real estate investment funds is required.
