Staff Attorney (Document Assembly) Duties: Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards as a member of the State Bar; Adhere to the American Bar Association Standards for the Provision of Civil Legal Aid; Embrace and support Center’s overall mission; and Comply with all grant requirements, regulations, standards, policies, and confidentiality requirements. Provide high quality legal advice, assistance, and referrals to eligible clients, including through LiveChat, in a patient, compassionate, culturally-sensitive, and trauma-informed manner. Conduct intake interviews, confirm eligibility for services and check for conflicts of interest according to Center policy. Travel to remote locations to conduct training and outreach activities. Identify the need for publications to assist self-represented litigants. Ensure is accurate, updated and free of spelling and grammar errors while being accessible and able to be easily understood by the general public. Develop tools for SRLP clients and the general public to assist with form completion and filing of court documents. Draft and update video, legal information publications, tools, interactive forms, and print forms. Coordinate projects between SRLP, within the practice area group, within, and organizations outside, including Texas Access to Justice Foundation grantees. Train and lead law students, volunteers, and interns for LiveChat and the development of content for the website. Ensure all client, project, and computer files are maintained in an orderly manner. Provide all information needed/requested for reporting in a prompt manner.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: JD Degree. Licensure by the Supreme Court of Texas. PREFERRED: 2+ years of family law experience. Prior experience with computer programming languages or document assembly platforms. Current knowledge and expertise of the law and legal system, especially in areas that impact family law. Advance level project management skills. High level organization skills. Strong time management and attention to detail skills. Exceptional verbal, listening and written communications skills. Proficiency with (or the ability to learn) LegalServer (case management system), Adobe, Microsoft Office products, G Suite apps, and social media tools. Understanding of grant requirements and associated reporting needs. Ability to travel to remote locations. Ability to work with clients in a patient, trauma informed and non-judgmental manner. Ability to learn new technologies to carry out job functions. Ability to enter information into the system accurately.
