Assistant Vice President and Assistant General Counsel
The candidate will provide strategic and practical legal advice to the Boston Fed business units and Human Resources partners on all relevant employment matters (including hiring, terminations, performance management, and investigations). Be the primary legal point of contact for escalated employee relations and human resources matters, providing timely and practical advice. Oversee and manage employment-related claims and litigation. Provide advice to business partners regarding risk mitigation strategies in employment and other corporate matters. Draft, modify and/or provide advice regarding legal and human resource documents, agreements and communications. Responsible for monitoring and providing advice regarding relevant legislative, regulatory and industry developments, as well as working with Human Resources and other business partners to implement and train on new guidance. Oversee the Bank’s Ethics Program, and advise on issues such as conflicts of interest. Provide strategic and practical legal advice on a broad range of corporate issues, including leasing, FOIA, privacy, and contracts. Supervise other attorneys in the department. Participate in Federal Reserve System workgroups and represent the Bank at the System level.



Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited university, and admission to the Massachusetts Bar (or eligibility and commitment to seek and obtain admission by motion to the Massachusetts Bar within 90 days of employment). Should have 10 years of relevant experience in law firms, governmental agencies, and/or in-house legal departments and 3 years of management experience preferred. Strong research, writing, time management, planning, and organizational skills. Strong client service, problem-solving, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and priorities simultaneously and still meet high quality and timeliness standards under pressure. Ability to interact with and navigate a complex organization, and to advise and relationship building at all levels of the organization.
