## Assistant IP Counsel (Hybrid)

RTX is currently seeking an attorney to serve as IP Counsel as part of its Corporate and Research Center Team, reporting to the Research Center’s General Counsel.

### Job Summary

The Assistant IP Counsel (Hybrid) will provide leadership to ensure appropriate protections are secured for RTX’s intellectual property; communicates with top executives on matters of strategic importance; is recognized as a thought leader and an expert on intellectual property processes, procedures, and enforcement; and supports all intellectual property matters, as needed, for the Research Center and Corporate Technology and Global Engineering (“T&GE”).

### Job Responsibilities

- Serve as an intellectual property thought leader and expert regarding processes and procedures.
- Provide leadership regarding intellectual property matters, licensing, and supports enforcement of rights and defense of the company against intellectual property claims.
- Provide proactive, effective and timely guidance to senior leadership and management, general legal counsel, contract support personnel, and all levels of the engineering and business organizations, on intellectual property, digital and general legal matters.
- Provide training in these areas to Research Center and Corporate T&GE employees.
- Independently and proactively performing all duties, including discussing or referring appropriate matters to the Research Center legal director, or peers, as appropriate.
- Meeting regularly and driving high level of engagement with technical, legal and management personnel, periodically participating in meetings with representatives of outside companies, and providing advice to management on intellectual property and other matters.
- Ensuring the establishment and execution of appropriate domestic and foreign intellectual property protection strategies within the group and for the technological areas within area of responsibility.
- Actively leading and participating in the development and implementation of intellectual property strategies for the Research Center and Corporate T&GE, and its technologies and research and development projects.
- Supervising outside counsel in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, both domestic and foreign.
- Drafting and negotiating various agreements, including government contracts, development agreements, technical services agreements, software licenses, non-disclosure agreements and other miscellaneous agreements and providing counsel to management, general legal counsel, and contract support personnel on other agreements, such as supply agreements, sales and service contracts and acquisition agreements.

### Required Qualifications

- Juris Doctorate (JD) and five years prior relevant intellectual property experience, in house or at a law firm, ideally both.
- Member in good standing of a US state bar.
- Registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Integrity and sound judgment, and ability to collaborate across functions and businesses.
- Willing to work hybrid from East Hartford, CT
- Willing to travel on occasion

### Preferred Qualifications

- Preference for previous work experience as engineer or other technical field within Aerospace or Defense industries.
- Preference for IP litigation and transactional experience.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Creative troubleshooting skills.
- Multi-tasking abilities, have a client focus, adaptive, and work effectively in a time sensitive and dynamic environment.

### Salary and Job Type

This position is a full-time hybrid job and the salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
