A law firm in Burlington, VT, is seeking a highly experienced Trusts and Estates Attorney to lead their practice. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in all aspects of trusts and estates law, providing sophisticated counsel to high-net-worth individuals, families, and institutional clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters.
  • Draft complex wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents tailored to client needs.
  • Counsel clients on wealth preservation, tax planning, and charitable giving strategies.
  • Handle estate and trust administration, including asset distribution and fiduciary duties.
  • Represent clients in contested estate and trust matters, if necessary.
  • Collaborate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to provide comprehensive client solutions.
  • Stay updated on changes in trusts and estates laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Vermont Bar or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.
  • 15+ years of experience practicing trusts and estates law with a reputable firm or in a solo practice.
  • Proven track record of handling complex estate planning and administration matters.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds and with varying needs.

Certifications:

  • Certification in Trusts and Estates Law by the Vermont Bar or relevant professional organizations is preferred.
