Profile

Manager Risk Management Operations Duties: Provides leadership for day-to-day operational effectiveness, personnel management, fiscal accountability and positive relations with both internal and external key stakeholders as assigned. Develops and implements standardized risk management policies and procedures to ensure consistency, operational efficiencies and effectiveness. In collaboration with the System VP and Clinical Director of Risk Management as well as other network and system Risk Management staff; assists in developing annual objectives including professional goals and strategies, and improving processes and practices to achieve desired outcomes. Collaborates with the director and others in supporting, directing, recruitment, training, professional development and evaluation of Risk Management staff. Provides additional resources to support local offices on an as needed basis. Participates in identifying potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides guidance to staff on how to avoid or deal with similar risk-related situations in the future. Assists other departments in analyzing Risk Management data and facilitates sharing of claims related learning and case status to all locations, including rapid follow-up of serious adverse events and unanticipated outcomes. Develops and facilities risk management training and education within the Risk Management organization and other functional organizations. Serves in collaborative relationship with Networks, System Quality, Patient Safety, and Organizational Integrity to ensure mitigation of risk and optimization of patient safety. Leads and actively promotes risk management in an integrated manner with continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Qualification and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or related field or equivalent education and/or experience in risk management, insurance claims management or customer service, which provide the incumbent the requisite skills and knowledge for the role is required. Graduate degree in Law, public health or health related field preferred. Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (if not currently certified will be expected to become certified within one year of employment). 5+ years of experience in risk management as a risk manager. 2+ years of leadership experience required. Experience managing risk managers preferred. Ability to deliver financial results for areas of accountability. Ability to work independently with minimum direction. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong interpersonal and management skills. Ability to objectively collect and analyze data. Knowledge of State, Federal and accreditation laws and standards. Proficient computer skills, including MS Office applications.
