A law firm in St. Louis is seeking a Mid-level Construction Managing Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of commercial real estate transactional experience to join their team. The ideal candidate will work closely with partners and associates on a variety of complex transactional and litigation matters related to construction and development. Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with partners and associates on complex construction-related transactional and litigation matters.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review construction agreements (including use of AIA platform), development agreements, and design agreements.
  • Assist with construction-related disputes, including defect and delay claims, in both arbitration and litigation.
  • Perform due diligence and conduct legal research to support construction and development projects.
  • Participate in negotiations related to the development of real property and construction projects.
  • Contribute to the coordination and execution of various complex transactional matters related to development and construction.
  • Draft memoranda, briefs, agreements, and other legal documents in support of the firm’s construction and development practice.
  • Assist in managing ongoing construction projects, ensuring compliance with legal standards and contractual obligations.
  • Support the construction practice with general legal advice and guidance as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 3-5 years of commercial real estate transactional experience, with a focus on construction-related transactions and disputes.
  • Construction experience is a plus, especially in drafting and negotiating construction and development agreements.
  • Litigation experience in construction-related disputes, such as defect and delay claims, is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a law firm setting is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively manage client interactions and case work.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex workloads and prioritize tasks effectively.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Bar Admission: Must be licensed and in good standing in the state where the hired candidate will be practicing (Missouri preferred).

Skills:

  • Outstanding writing and research skills for drafting legal documents and conducting legal research.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work closely with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent negotiation skills for handling construction-related agreements and disputes.
  • Proficiency with the AIA platform and related construction documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating superior organizational skills.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with legal research platforms (., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Knowledge of construction law and related statutes, including AIA contracts.
