Paralegal Duties: Monitor and report state and federal legislative and regulatory developments affecting the Market and trading rights in the US. Review and track State Insurance Departments’ websites for updates and guidance relating to regulatory and/or reporting compliance and data calls, particularly after catastrophic events Coordinate meetings and help to maintain relationships with federal and state insurance regulators and officials. Assist with Regulators’ and Market queries. Provide research assistance and support for special projects and presentations. Coordinate with external legislative service providers to develop most relevant legislative and regulatory alerts. Perform initial review of legislative alerts and circulate to attorneys for in depth analysis. Oversee Legal Intern responsible for tracking and documenting legislative activity. Organize and document Crystal updates. Monitor and report emergency legislative developments and reporting requirements following US catastrophes and assist in responding to resulting Insurance Departments’ Data Calls Monitor industry associations’ activities for developments affecting Lloyd’s issues and provide timely updates to attorneys. Attend and provide notes on industry conference calls and webinars as directed by attorneys Coordinate meetings with state and federal regulators and legislators including scheduling, developing agendas, preparing briefing materials and providing information on Lloyd’s for distribution. Manage tracking of meetings. Assist attorneys and other internal departments in ensuring that complaints and regulatory investigations are addressed. Draft and amend correspondence, documents, and presentations as directed by attorneys. Conduct basic legal research as directed. Draft regular risk management and status reports due on monthly and quarterly basis. Ensure that all processes are properly documented per internal audit requirements. Draft and amend correspondence, documents, and presentations as directed by attorneys. Organize and maintain all Legal Department electronic and physical files.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Undergraduate Degree. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage scheduling and meeting preparation. Clear communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible environment. Ability to conduct basic legal research, such as reviewing filing requirements and monitoring of regulatory developments. Strong computer skills including how to navigate web-based platforms such as Sharepoint. Knowledge of US insurance regulatory system or another regulated industry a plus.
