Elk Grove Village office of our client seeks assistant general counsel preferably with 7 years of experience in the practice of law and 3 years of relevant experience in the financial industry, including with credit cards, installment loans and/or other lending products. The candidate will provide Legal support to the U.S. Branded Cards and Unsecured Lending business, which is comprised of firm?s proprietary and co-brand credit cards, and on- and off-card installment and other lending products. Will work on: identifying and providing guidance on regulatory and compliance matters related to credit card and lending products; and providing business Legal advice to the Lending business, including on product development, implementation, and management; acquisition and marketing offers; negotiating and documenting agreements with partners and third-party vendors; and the ongoing support of the business in its client relationships. Report to the Associate General Counsel, Cards and Lending Regulatory, U.S. Branded Cards and Unsecured Lending Legal. Providing legal advice and counsel in connection with the following functions and activities: Credit card account origination and issuance; Unsecured Lending product development; Digital applications and wallets; Issue identification and remediation; Data security and privacy; Policy and procedure review; Counter-party and vendor contracts; Consumer disclosures and marketing materials. Must have significant experience in federal and state consumer credit laws and regulations, including Truth-in-Lending/Regulation Z, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act/Regulation B, the Fair Credit Reporting Act/Regulation V, Electronic Funds Transfers/Regulation E, and UDAAP. Must have a Juris Doctor degree. A license in good standing to practice law in at least one state essential. Proven analytical and organizational skills essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills needed.
