Attorney – Immigrant Children’s Justice Project The candidate will provide legal consultation and representation to immigrant children and youth regarding Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, access to bilingual and English Language Learner (ELL) education, and special education issues. Will staff, part-time, on-site legal clinics at a high school in Bridgeport and a high school in Norwalk and work with school administrators to coordinate the legal clinics with other school services and schedules. Collaborate with other firm attorneys to screen clients for immigration issues. Manage and provide training and technical assistance to firm’s corps of pro bono attorneys who represent immigrant youth in immigration matters. Provide legal rights training to immigrant youth, families, advocates and community providers. Respond to legal questions from school systems and community providers about supporting immigrant youth. Produce legal information materials for youth and community providers. Collaborate with other immigrant advocacy organizations to bring information and legal services to immigrant youth and families and advocate for systemic change. Identify systemic problems impacting immigrant youth and engage in system reform advocacy, including litigation, administrative advocacy and legislative advocacy as necessary. Supervise the Project paralegal. Should have excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills. Must have 2+ years of related experience. Speaking, reading and writing fluency in Spanish is required.
