Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a highly experienced Workers' Compensation Attorney with at least 10 years of experience to join a distinguished workers' compensation defense practice in Ohio. This role offers an opportunity to manage complex workers' compensation cases, provide legal advice, and develop strategies to help employers minimize obligations and liabilities.

Location:

  • Cleveland, Ohio

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and counsel on workers' compensation matters
  • Represent employers in workers' compensation claims, including administrative hearings, depositions, mediations, and court proceedings
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce employers' obligations and liabilities
  • Assist employers in obtaining and maintaining self-insured status
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, written discovery, motions, and other legal documents to support defense strategies
  • Stay current with legal trends, regulations, and case law related to workers' compensation
  • Build and maintain relationships with key contacts in state agencies, including the Industrial Commission of Ohio and the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in Ohio
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience handling Ohio workers' compensation defense matters
  • Strong understanding of Ohio workers' compensation laws and regulations
  • Proven track record in reducing obligations and liabilities for employers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently on an assigned caseload and collaborate within a team
  • Established network of contacts within the Ohio workers' compensation community

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the Ohio Bar

Certifications:

  • Active Ohio Bar membership

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Ohio workers' compensation law
  • Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
  • Excellent client relationship-building skills
  • Ability to handle a complex caseload with efficiency
