Paralegal Candidate will handle: Day-to-day case/transaction and database management; reviews, drafts, and prepares legal documents; conducts due diligence and research; Exhibits technical skills consistent with new and existing Firm technology; Proficient with respect to filing procedures and filing jurisdictions; Assists with pre-closing, closing and post-closing matters; Obtains, reviews and charts lien and IP searches, as well as prepares and files UCC financing statements and UCC abstracts/charts; Forms, amends, qualifies and dissolves business entities; Prepares and updates corporate and partnership records books; prepares stock certificates; orders documentation from service companies and state/county jurisdictions; Provides overflow assistance to peers/team members within department to further enhance departmental operations; and promotes a positive work and team environment; Interacts with departmental paralegal clerk(s), including the monitoring and coordinating of assigned duties and tasks; Maintains time records ensuring accurate and timely release of DTE entries; Assumes other duties and/or assists with special projects as requested by the Paralegal Supervisor; Completes and submits electronic and signed weekly timesheets and PTO requests to manager in a timely manner; Develops and maintains excellent customer service relationships with clients, attorneys, vendors, and administrative staff; Adheres to Firm policies and procedures and supports Firm’s initiatives; Attends training classes and completes annual training requirements for skills enhancement; Observes confidentiality of all Firm matters and performs under the guidelines of the Administrative Staff Principles.

If you are hiring laterals, value their choice of joining the firm and provide them with equal opportunities and benefit of doubt as the home-grown lawyers.

Pros : The firm has high profile clients and definitely a good place to begin your practice. However, if you are joining as a lateral, be ware! The treatment you receive is completely different from the home-grown lawyers. I have seen few laterals in the M&A/PE department that survived a year!
Cons : They are surprisingly cruel towards the laterals in the M&A/PE department. It feels like a frat house and it is not just the partners but fellow associates as well. It feels like you are constantly trying to be a part of a fraternity.
