Catastrophe Claims Litigation Paralegal The candidate will support and work with Claims Litigation Executive and the General Counsel to provide efficient and effective management of catastrophe litigation claims. Will work with outside counsel responsible each litigation claim to ensure timely and complete filing and service of litigation materials including pleadings, discovery materilas, subpoenas and briefs. Manage files to ensure receipt of timely and effective status memorandum from outside counsel. Assist in outside counsel in preparation of discovery requests and responses and other materials and documents necessary for for litigation. Adhere to legal document standards to ensure proper format and completeness for court acceptance. Reviews and analyzes all court documents received to determine appropriate actions or responses required, under supervision of the Catastrophe Claims Litigation Executive and the General Counsel. Performs legal research and prepares summary of analysis as needed. Performs analysis, review, and compilation of documentation to ensure accuracy required during litigation discovery process. Reviews and replies to various correspondences from internal and external contacts as necessary. Manage electronic sets of documents. Oversee document deliveries and track final executed documentation. Attends meetings regarding litigation process and issues, as necessary. Calendar and monitor litigation deadline dates. Accurately document transactions and status in claims system. Performs other related duties as required and assists with special projects. BA / BS and/or Paralegal Certificate (or Attorney Attestation under California Business & Professions Code) is needed. Should preferably have 2+ years of personal lines litigation and case management experience. Strong knowledge of State and Federal civil procedures, rules of court, and local rules is needed. Experience performing legal research, maintaining/organizing client case files, and drafting of various general litigation documents are needed. Proficient with Microsoft Office; Word, Excel and Outlook is needed. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed. Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment to ensure timely and accurate response to litigation requirements is needed. Superior communication and organization skills, including ability to prepare persuasive correspondence to external parties and to articulate complex issues in an understandable manner is essential. Proficiency in the use of multiple word processing and PC-based software packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint is needed.
