Immigration Legal Assistant Duties: Communicate with clients with case updates. Communicate with attorneys regarding client questions and issues. Communicate with government agencies. Organize and analyze information and files. Set up and manage new client files throughout duration of the case. Prepare and send legal correspondence as directed by attorneys. Provide administrative support as requested. Cover Receptionist position as requested. Assist attorneys will immigration cases. Docket (Scheduling) events. Draft letters and simple court documents. Draft legal applications and letters to be filed with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Write reports and legal documents. Maintain detailed notes, reminders, and calendar events for assigned cases. Draft Letters to clients in Spanish. Gather information for cases. Perform records research. Attend legal training to improve skills.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree. 1+ year of experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary. Experience at an immigration law firm is preferred. Experience with immigration client management/forms software such as Law Logix, INSZoom, E-Immigration, Immigration Tracker. Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing). Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook. Highly motivated, highly organized, excellent communication skills, excellent research and writing skills, ability to multitask, pays close attention to detail, works well independently, works well under pressure.
