ProfileSenior Business Affairs Executive (Legal) The candidate will assist and help lead all legal and business affairs matters with respect to the Companyâ€™s growing motion picture, television, digital content development, production and distribution and theme park businesses. Serve as the day to day business affairs executive on behalf of firm. Negotiate and draft deals and agreements in all areas of content development and production for film and television, including services agreements for producers, writers, directors and actors, option/first look agreements, rights/purchase agreements, distribution agreements, production services agreements, and other development and production-related agreements. Assisting in related intellectual property matters as they arise (e.g., copyright), and will likely need to delve into local law and practice in various International territories. Work closely with internal teams â€“ creative, production, finance, and legal to help execute on firmâ€™s film and television content strategy. Assist in the financial modeling of revenue waterfalls based on negotiated agreements. Helping review and evaluate projects from a financial and budgetary perspective. Counseling business partners and senior executives on issues that have both a legal and business impact. Broad-based content licensing, including structuring, negotiating and drafting SVOD and/or pay or free television distribution agreement.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have JD degree from an accredited law school, and a member of the California State Bar. Should have 5+ years of experience drafting, negotiating, and managing complex agreements. Relevant experience negotiating movie and television development/production deals in a business and/or legal affairs department at a media company and/or entertainment legal practice is required. Experience in an international environment is needed Strong familiarity with all guild rules and agreements (WGA, SAG, AFTRA, DGA, etc.) is needed.
