Intellectual Property Counsel The candidate will provide research, analysis, recommendations, and advice regarding complex intellectual property legal questions and issues. Draft, negotiate, counsel on, and file legal documents, including patent applications, responses to office actions, opinions, contracts, memos, and registrations. Support management of IP litigation and alternative dispute resolution with adverse parties to ensure favorable results are achieved, including patent opinions and clearances. Develop and execute training on intellectual property law matters to groups of various sizes to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with various patent office and other IP related requirements. Stay current on emerging trends in the law through continuing legal education, reading, professional conferences, and participating in professional associations

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have Juris Doctor degree or equivalent degree. USPTO registration as a patent attorney is required. Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree, in mechanical or electrical engineering is needed. Should have 1+ years of legal experience in a corporate, law firm, or government environment. Experience applying intellectual property law to an area of responsibility, and identify and counsel on intellectual property issues is required. Experience researching, analyzing, and counseling on identified legal issues is must. Experience with preparing and prosecuting patent applications is essential. Experience managing and analyzing risk within areas of specialization and responsibility is needed. Experience with the legal management of the development, maintenance, and leveraging of an intellectual property portfolio is preferred. Experience with providing research and legal counsel on complex intellectual property legal questions and issues is desired. Experience managing projects relating to intellectual property, competitive intelligence, client education, and contracts is a plus.
