Legal Counsel The candidate will be providing legal guidance and subject matter expertise on initiatives impacting privacy and its related areas. Will respond to privacy-related inquiries and investigations. drafting external privacy notices and disclosures and managing/updating internal policies and procedures related to privacy. Help develop, enhance, and run the existing regional privacy program, including privacy operations and documentation, employee training, policy enforcement, monitoring and auditing, and incident response. Providing advice and support at all stages during the review, negotiation, and management of engineering contracts from initiation to closure. Proactively contributing to and providing best practices in areas of responsibility (e.g., privacy, contract management leadership, risk identification and mitigation, recognizing matters requiring elevated legal review) to the Firms business. Providing sound and insightful advice to the business on a variety of matters such as privacy, data security, contract negotiation, risks associated with areas of responsibility, and providing training to relevant personnel on the same. Promoting and upskilling relevant Firms personnel in the identification and mitigation of legal and commercial risks in areas of responsibility. Performing other duties and responsibilities requiring general legal advice as required from time to time by the business.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a Juris Doctor or its equivalent and be a member in good standing of a Bar of a U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia. Must have 6 years of demonstrated work experience in commercial contracts review, drafting, support, and negotiation (international exposure an advantage), ideally in both a reputable law firm and as an in-house lawyer. Should have contract and performance/risk management experience in all general aspects of environmental consulting; experience in water, infrastructure, or other civil engineering disciplines is an advantage. construction industry experience is also valued. Knowledge of U.S. federal, state and local public contracting laws preferred (where no knowledge is present, ability to perform targeted legal research).
