Profile

Paralegal
Duties: Maintain systems and processes for storing the company’s legal files to ensure easy access and organization. Serve as custodian of corporate records and support the maintenance of subsidiary entity activity, jurisdictional qualifications to do business, and related entity and corporate governance items. Support Nelnet attorneys in corporate and real estate transactions and assist with due diligence efforts and follow-on compliance as needed. Manages process and documentation associated with IP portfolio, including support of ongoing filings. Track employee stock purchase, sale, and gift activity, manage “Rule 10b5-1 plan” activity, intake, tracking and reporting. Respond to requests for information and documents from our internal and external auditors, regulators, partners, and other stakeholders. Build productive relationships and feedback loops with business teams and shared services to drive efficiencies. Assist with special projects as needed, with the ability to work in an ever-changing environment. Assist the Legal team in developing, implementing, and optimizing processes and systems to increase the efficiency of the legal department.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Paralegal certificate, Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5 years of corporate paralegal or related experience with a law firm or public company. Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail. Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills with the ability to work with tight deadlines. Skillful project manager with the ability to handle multiple, high priority projects in a fast-paced environment. Proven self-starter with demonstrated ability to make decisions and navigate ambiguity. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Sharepoint, and other similar software applications commonly used by attorneys and legal departments. Strong work ethic, values, and integrity. Ability and willingness to take on new areas of responsibility.
