Job Overview

A reputable law firm based in Myrtle Beach, SC, is seeking a skilled Associate Attorney to join their team. This role involves managing a diverse portfolio of cases, including government and law enforcement defense, civil defense, and personal injury cases. The ideal candidate will demonstrate solid legal expertise, independence in case handling, and the ability to effectively collaborate with peers.

Duties

• Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and briefs
• Conduct detailed legal research to support case strategies
• Facilitate client communication and negotiations with opposing parties to reach settlements
• Manage a varied caseload from inception to resolution
• Provide regular and timely case status reports
• Collaborate with senior attorneys during depositions and court proceedings

Requirements

• Admission to the South Carolina Bar in good standing
• A minimum of 2 years of experience, with a strong preference for civil litigation defense background
• Proven ability to handle multiple assignments and prioritize caseload effectively

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active membership in the South Carolina Bar Association

Skills

• Strong analytical and research capabilities
• Excellent writing skills for drafting comprehensive legal documents
• Proficiency in legal research tools, particularly Westlaw
• Familiarity with legal software (experience with i-Manage and Juris Suite is a plus)
