Job Overview:
A reputable law firm located in Cary, NC is seeking an experienced Senior Wage and Hour Litigation Attorney to join its dynamic team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to represent employees in complex class action and wage-and-hour litigation, including claims related to unpaid wages, overtime, and illegal deductions. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with senior attorneys and independently manage a docket of cases, with a focus on federal court proceedings. A keen attention to detail, strong research and writing skills, and the ability to advocate zealously for clients in court are essential for success in this role.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
  • Take and defend depositions, engaging in detailed litigation preparation.
  • Assist in mediation, court hearings, and trials, including preparation of witness examinations and pretrial motions.
  • Organize and manage evidence for trial, including the preparation of exhibits and witness scheduling.
  • Support senior attorneys in complex wage and hour class action litigation primarily in federal courts, including North Carolina federal district courts and the Fourth Circuit.
  • Communicate with clients, including taking client calls and preparing for client meetings to gather relevant case information.
  • Participate in the discovery process, including handling electronically stored data and physical evidence.
  • Provide general litigation support, including assisting with motions and briefs, and preparing disclosures.

Requirements:

  • Litigation experience, with a focus on wage and hour law.
  • Extensive experience in legal research, writing, and case management.
  • Strong understanding of the legal process in federal courts.
  • Proven ability to independently handle complex cases and litigation tasks.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively with a team and independently.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and opposing counsel.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in North Carolina or eligibility for admission.

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with legal research tools and case management software.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
