Duties: Works with Enterprise Legal attorneys and staff to draft and analyze a wide range of legal documents, such as memoranda, letters, contracts, amendments, and confidentiality agreements. Communicates with attorneys and other external parties to answer questions and gather pertinent information. Works with Enterprise Legal attorneys and others in the division to review, update and maintain contract templates. Works collaboratively with internal business areas and Enterprise Legal staff to provide transactional support for corporate agreements. Works collaboratively with the relevant management teams when Enterprise Legal department needs to establish ownership for a specific request. Redirects inappropriate or incomplete requests to applicable business area for handling. Identifies bottlenecks and works to enhance workflow procedures between key areas to identify improvements in the request process from start to finish. Participates in the implementation of new processes, procedures, techniques, and standards. Maintains status of active Enterprise Legal department requests and provides updates and status to the requestor; ensures regular communication to Enterprise Legal attorneys and staff on status of critical requests. Supports Enterprise Legal department initiatives internally through continuous improvement and customer relations skills. Influences internal business departments in risk identification, particularly regarding data sharing issues and follows up with applicable areas for additional information if necessary. Prepares, reviews, and approves simple contracts and confidentiality agreements in compliance with Corporate policies, procedures, and various departmental requirements. Assists in preparing and maintaining corporate records and assists in compliance efforts on behalf of the corporation and affiliated companies. As directed, reviews, researches, and responds to requests and other legal inquires in a timely manner. Establishes and maintains requisite legal files consisting of correspondence, legal documents, and background materials relative to assigned matters. Prepares and maintains documentation pertinent to the corporation’s and its affiliates’ certifications and licenses (including those related to the BlueCross BlueShield Association, Department of Health, Department of Financial services, etc.); ensures timely preparation and submission of all documents required to maintain such certifications and licenses. Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies’ mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct, and leading to the Lifetime Way values and beliefs. Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures. Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required. Performs other functions as assigned by management.
Qualification and ExperienceQualifications: Associates Degree in relevant field or paralegal certification, with 3+ years of paralegal experience. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred. Licensed Notary Public; or willingness to become a notary after hire is preferred. In lieu of Degree or Certification, 5+ years of experience working in a law firm or corporate law environment. Strong analytical ability, organizational and process improvement skills, coupled with the ability to prioritize assignments, work independently, and handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to identify and assess risk, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and be capable of establishing effective working relationships with all levels of internal staff and external representatives. Proficiency using Microsoft Office products, expertise with PCs. Experience with legal matter management software is preferred. Ability to perform all essential duties in a flexible work environment.
