Paralegal The candidate will be responsible for the specialized contract support work for multiple attorneys in the County Attorney's Office involving County, state, and federal grant programs, vendor contracts, multi-government agreements, service provider agreements, and other funding or services agreements. Responsibilities will also include general administrative assistance for a law office (revising documents, proofreading, preparing correspondence, scheduling appointments, etc.). Prepare grant or funding agreements using a template agreement. Review draft exhibits, such as the scope of services, for clarity and conciseness, and suggest appropriate revisions. Facilitate and coordinate the review and negotiation of multiple contracts simultaneously. Verify changes by each party are tracked and approved by reviewing attorney. Compare documents using word processing programs to verify that all contract changes are noted, reviewed, and approved by the attorney. Communicate with clients and opposing parties and counsel as needed. Docket deadlines for contracts, agenda items, and other deadlines. Prepare agenda packages for consideration by the Board of County Commissioners. Research applicable statutes and regulations.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree; Associates degree in paralegal studies; or paralegal certificate. Requires four (4) years paralegal experience (equivalent training and experience will be considered). Bachelor's degree, Associates degree in paralegal studies, Florida Registered paralegal, or paralegal certificate from a Florida school preferred. At least four (4) years of paralegal experience a plus. Significant experience e-filing in Florida state or federal courts. Ability to conduct basic research (KeyCite, Find, etc.) on Westlaw. Experience in responding to Florida public records requests. Extensive knowledge of and skill in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel required; Powerpoint preferred) and Adobe Acrobat (Standard, Professional, or similar). Familiarity with Florida and federal statutes. Extensive experience in contract support. Candidate should have extensive contract support experience, including the ability to utilize contract templates to prepare drafts for attorney review and to review and revise exhibits, such as the scope of services, for grammar and clarity. Must be able to work independently and possess excellent organization skills to facilitate and coordinate the timely preparation, review, revision, and negotiation of multiple agreements with various clients, attorneys, and third parties. Ability to express ideas clearly, both orally and in writing. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
