Paralegal The candidate will work with a team handling a caseload of up to 200 cases/month that are set for docket, and will have familiarity with the lifecycle of a lawsuit and documents included in the filing and disposition of a lawsuit. Understand the life cycle of a lawsuit (primarily from the Plaintiffsâ€™ side). Assist attorneys in court for hearings with assigned court dockets and in dealing with the public. Draft pleadings and correspondence related to scheduled hearings. Initiate and assist in collection activities, including telephone calls and correspondence. Exhibit and maintain professional attitude at all times, and will possess excellent communication, writing and grammar skills. Maintain contact with court personnel, constables, sheriffs, law enforcement and title agencies, as needed. Attend weekly litigation meeting to prepare for weekly court dockets. Review, sort and code a variety of legal documents and input data into case-tracking system daily with speed and accuracy. Perform any and all other assigned duties. Generates Reports and Call Logs.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: High school or equivalent. Ability to keep pace with processing deadlines is critical. Ability to handle incoming/outgoing collection calls. Good communication. Ability to work overtime. Understanding of the Texas Property Tax Code and/or background in Real Estate, chains of title and property ownership. Knowledge and understanding of how to conduct legal research and present their research in a well-written, concise document.
