Assistant General Counsel I
The candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice, support, and consultation to all sections within the Division of Health Benefits. Advising and providing legal support to the firm's regarding the Medicaid managed care transformation. Advising on regulatory compliance issues. Conducting legal research and providing legal opinions on legal issues impacting the firm. Assisting with litigation oversight, including discovery assistance and brief review. Providing legal assistance with state plan amendments and waivers. Providing legal assistance with contracts, procurements, and other document review. Providing legislative and regulatory interpretation to divisions and assistance in drafting legislation. Serving as firm’s rules coordinator.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must be licensed to practice law by the North Carolina State Bar and two(2) years of progressively responsible professional legal experience. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities. Pre-Employment criminal background checks are required. Knowledge of North Carolina Medicaid. Thorough knowledge of case, statutory, regulatory, and common law. Thorough knowledge of judicial and quasi-judicial procedures. Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying laws, constitutional provisions, statutes, administrative regulations, and court decisions. Demonstrated experience analyzing facts, evidence, and legal instruments. Demonstrated experience expressing conclusions and arguments clearly and logically in oral and written form. Demonstrated experience analyzing legal problems and rendering formal opinions. Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
