Supervisor - Research and Data Management The candidate will be responsible for providing strategic direction, effective leadership, guidance and supervision to the Land Services Research and Data Management team for Carolinas East. Will direct the regional operation and determines work assignments and technical oversight expertise for the research and data functions that include property research, the maintenance of real estate transactions records, maps and documents. Act in a capacity as a working supervisor for the research and data functions within the group, providing hands-on support based on workload. Ensures standard work processes are followed by the team. Monitors team results to identify opportunities for improvement and completes performance appraisals. Establishes operational goals and work practices to achieve corporate standards of performance. Leads and motivates a diverse team to drive consistencies, document and communicate procedures; identify efficiencies and technical direction. Provide backup support to Manager; contributes to the setting of clear objectives and standards. Manages and implements department budget, including but not limited to; monitoring, forecasting, variances and long range forecasting. Provides guidance, direction, training and mentoring to employees in the activities to support the proper records management for Real Estate transactions. Plans, organizes, monitors and manages activities for the employees including performance feedback and opportunities for development. Establishes work unit goals and initiatives in support of departmental operational plan and corporate strategic plan. Manages and implements department budget, including monitoring, forecasting, variances and long range forecasting. Ensure activities are completed, managed, and stored in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements; business rules and processes and procedures are followed and understood, and ensures the integrity of firmâ€™s 100 plus years of real estate records. Provides guidance and direction to employees in the land records research process. This includes locating needed data and the proper communication to interested parties. Provide support for the team in writing, reviewing and updating of all training and reference material to ensure consistency and best practices. Oversees Research and Data Management work management/tracking in Real Estate asset inventory database. Provides business analysis support for analyzing, designing, and developing business process improvement initiatives. Ensures excellent documentation and supporting records of transactions for purposes of condemnation and other legal actions. Establishes and maintains partnerships with other Duke Business Partner teams to collaborate and ensure their requests are being met. Maintains high level of work productivity and safety by ensuring work group products and services meet quality and safety standards. Keep current with best practices, regulations and laws related to land functions notary and recording changes.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Associates Degree in Business, Survey, Real Estate, Law or related field or Paralegal Certification with 5-7 years of work related experience and Supervisory experience. Must have Years of prior equivalent work related experience in lieu of a degree: 7-10 years of work related experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office computer applications. 4 year degree in Real Estate, Business, Survey, Law, Paralegal training, survey training is desired. 1-4 years of management/supervisory experience is desired. 4 years of direct experience in acquisition and/or research of real estate rights is desired. Knowledge of Electric Distribution Operations and Transmission Construction is desired. A real estate professional designation earned through testing and experience such as IRWA, Appraisal Institute, CoreNet, CCIM, etc. is desired.
