Project Assistant - Intellectual Property The candidate will provide support to the firm's IP practice group. Will build skill proficiency in case training and use of litigation software and database applications, research and analysis of both case law and factual data, and cite-checking of legal documents. Gain case management skills using computer litigation applications, cite-checking and research skills under the supervision of attorneys and legal support staff (e.g., factual research, Internet, LEXIS/Westlaw); proofreading skills; indexing and document management; retrieval of documents; filing of case materials before various agencies and courts; assemblage and production of pleadings, exhibits, and/or practice area projects. Work with attorneys and legal assistants on client billable projects meeting the firm's minimum hours' expectations. Prepare, update, and maintain document indices, coding in database management, basic research, organization of files, compilations of exhibits, proofreading and document retrieval from outside sources (Internet, libraries, courts and agencies). Actively develops case management, cite-checking and research skills.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have a four-year degree with 3.0 GPA and major in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, and other related majors. Paralegal certificate and/or relevant legal experience is preferred. Must be proficient in the use of office productivity applications (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat). An aptitude for learning new software strongly preferred. Should be experienced in proofreading documents for grammar and spelling errors. Proficiency in research and cite-checking confers a significant advantage on those headed to law school is essential.

I think the leadership team should be more transparent when it comes to the bonus structure. Keep things simple and provide a bonus system that is easy to understand.

Pros : Everyone at this firm is very welcoming and supportive, which has made my onboarding incredibly satisfying. The leadership team does a great job fostering an inclusive and enjoyable work environment, and they are very accessible to even new associates such as myself.
Cons : The bonus structure and overall compensation could use work. I was very confused when the bonus structure was explained to me, but it seems rather arcane.
