Job Overview:

A prominent law firm in Chicago, IL is seeking a Mid-Level Associate Attorney to join its Restructuring, Insolvency, and Bankruptcy practice. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in bankruptcy and insolvency law and be responsible for handling transactions and litigation matters related to Chapter 11 and related bankruptcy cases. Duties:

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and documents related to Chapter 11 cases, including plans, acquisition, and financing documents.
  • Conduct legal research on federal and state law issues, including cross-border and Chapter 15 matters.
  • Assist with discovery and litigation, particularly in adversary and contested bankruptcy matters.
  • Draft plan-related financing documents and acquisition agreements.
  • Provide support to senior attorneys in bankruptcy litigation and transactions.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in legal practice, with a focus on bankruptcy and restructuring.
  • Prior experience working in a law firm environment is highly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and persuasive legal documents.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state of Illinois. Additional licenses in California or New York are a plus.
